Till this day I still carry the first Media player that I bought: Iriver IFP-395.
It is still the best of all media players that I owned ( walkman ( remember this? ),discman, Ipod video=>never really used it anymore since now I could watch video on my Curve , nano (dropped and broke it within 3 days of purchase).
My IRiver still has ( almost) everything that I need: Voice recorder, fm tuner, 512mb memory ( enough songs for a few days), using AA battery ( doesn't need charger), compact size, durable ( and rugged).
and everything else ( phone, email, video), is supplied by my Curve
I primarily use my 30GB Ipod for all of my music, which is quite a bit. But I can't tell you enough how handy it is those times my battery has died on my ipod and hasn't been charged and I can just bust out the Curve and have a fair amount of music to listen to.
I am older and was not born with headsets in my ears, so I never really got into the habit. I had a Dell Axim I used for music a little, like on a trip, but that was all...I REALLY like music and listen to it all of the time, but mostly on my Klipsch 5.1 speakers at my desktop, or in my living room. I do plan on loading my card with music to use my BB more when I travel or I am out. I have a nice set of Sony headphones that sound great.
I use an iPod (looking into getting the new Zune 80) as my main media player. I don't really listen to much music on my 8830 due in part to the 2.5mm headphone jack and my lack of compatible headphones.
I use my iPod for listening to music in my car, but when I'm on the go, I use my Pearl. I've had 4 previous non BlackBerry phones before I got my Pearl and none of them had a decent MP3 player that could run in the backround OR a 3.5mm headphone jack. My Pearl has both and it's amazing!
