I really like the standby feature on my 8120 pearl, but i always forget to put it on standby. is there an application that will automatically go to standby after a certain period of time?
Not that I know of, you can use the button on top if your pearl to go into standby, that will save on your battery and lock your keys. it will still receive all notifications.
You could set your auto-lock to be as low as 1 minute. I think it would drive me crazy to have to enter my password every time I used the Curve, but maybe every 10/15/20 or 30 minutes might work for you.
Good point. The simple one that came with my Sprint Curve works very well. The CB Store has many to choose from but make sure the description mentions "magnet" or "proximity sensor" since that's the only way the BB knows if it's in or out of the holster.
Reminds me of the timed keyboard lock on the Treo. Didn't require a password-just a key combo to unlock. Whole idea was to prevent accidental keypresses. Timed keyboard password lock is the closest thing on the BB. There might be a 3rd party app, but I haven't looked for one.

before I got my otterbox i kept it in my pocket in the sleeve that came with it, which has a sleep magnet. i had so many problems with bar type phones calling people from my pocket no matter what I did, that I swore to only use flip phones. and i did for awhile, but the bb sleep function solves that issue entirely
it didnt matter what I did, I could turn the phone off, lock it, and it would still turn itself on, unlock, and call someone!
man, most of you guys are a bunch of dbags, telling him what YOU think he SHOULD do instead of answering his question. if he doesnt want to use a magnetic case/sleeve/pocket, then quit pushing it on him and making lame threats that he'll drop his phone. he's not 4 years old. and if you dont know the answer to his question, then why even post?
unfortunately, it's probably too late at this point, as i noticed he even asked this question in blackberryforums.com and got the same lame "answers" filled with no help from more dbags.
oakie - over the top calling people out like that.
jch49 starts this thread with his/her first post, so we figure he/she is new to BB.
jch49 promptly gets 3 replies saying we hadn't seen an app that does that, gets two alternative suggestions for things the BB does out of the box, and the case magnet suggestion which not everyone knows about.
This is all before jch49 comes back and says they don't want a case. A couple of us post how our cases kept the BB protected. Fine, jch49 doesn't want one.
Again, first post here implies new to BB, so what wasn't helpful about anything posted here?
You do realize jch49 started the thread you posted so they solved their own problem. Good for them - problem solved.
Oakie, just wait till u need some help...those "dbags" will be the one helping you
I've already seen your smart mouth on a couple threads so you might wanna watch how ur making ur name for yourself
For OP, if you don't want to spend the $5 on it, this is what I do but you might not like but it's easy:
I use the theme that gives you your favorite icons on the left of your screen as u keep pressing back (or the L Theme), anyway i put my lock icon in these favorites therefor anytime I'm rdy to put my phone back in my pocket i just back back back click lock.
