For all those on AT&T, is it possible to tether (wired or bluetooth) but only using WiFI, i.e. radio off? Starbucks gives free WiFi to AT&T customers, and it would avoid having to purchase a Starbucks card.

working at starbucks myself, i know you only need to register your card to use it.
haven't tested this out myself, but technically, you can just take an empty card (usually some are on display by the cashier), register it online, and it should be good to go.
i don't think you really have to buy one. even if you do, the minimum denomination you have to put in is $5 bucks.
