Technical question regarding CDMA-GSM
- Okay so here's the situation first...
I have a world phone that has been unlocked. Its on a CDMA network but has a sim card incase I travel where CDMA isnt covered. Now my question... can I somehow use my CDMA simcard for my world phone to connect to a GSM in my country without it saying SOS use only? if im out of the country it works fine when theres no CDMA.
Thanks for your help in advance04-09-09 10:39 PMLike 0 - CDMA is going to work pretty much in North America and a few other countries (very few).
On the Storm, GSM is going to work pretty much everywhere. You may have some restrictions within the US as to the connection speed, but that's about it (with the Storm, the 8830 doesn't have US frequencies in it). GSM is going to require a SIM card. If you have a SIM card in your Storm, it is for GSM access.
CDMA doesn't use a SIM card - it is based on the ESN/MEID hard coded in the phone. There isn't a way to remove it from the phone. You can go into settings and tell your BB which radio to use, though.04-10-09 05:45 AMLike 0
