Synching E-Mail to Lotus & Synching Address/Calendar in utlook

I just purchased my curve and I work for a federal government agency. I want to use my device for checking work e-mail on our Lotus server, and at the same time I want to be able to perform wired syncs for my address book and calendar entries using Outlook that is maintained on my local drive. Does anyone know if this has been done, and if so, how I can do it?

I've already had my IT department disable PIM sync when they set up my enterprise account, and I've set my device to turn off wireless sync in both the address book and calendar, but I've only been able to sync one time and then was unable to do so any further.

Any suggestions are appreciated.
