Hello everyone, I am new to the Crackberry community and to Blackberries (RIM) in general. I have never owned a Blackberry before but did get a chance to play with the Curve 9360 and Bold 9900 (I am an AT&T customer). I really liked what I saw from the amount of time I played with both of them. Right now I am on an iPhone 5 (I have had every model since iPhone 3GS and very bored with iOS) and looking to sell it off to get a Blackberry. The problem is I am under contract and way past the return period. What I am looking at is selling the iPhone, maybe buying the Curve 9360 off contract (their new on eBay for $200), and upgrading to BB10 when my contract is up. I really liked the 9900 but I believe the Curve would be sufficient enough for what I do (texting, phone calls, basic web browsing, heavy social networking and emailing). Since I am new to blackberries however, I wanted to get every-ones expert opinion on this. Thanks!

Welcome to crackberry. Over the next few days as bb10 devices are released you're going to see a huge influx of older devices on ebay. So I'd wait a bit. Go for the 9810 or 9900.

I have a 9930, and I feel its the best BB to date (that date being tomorrow).

The 9360 is also OS 7, so I expect a near equal user experience. The 9930 does have a more premium typing experience

    Also, Welcome to the forum!

    Welcome aboard!
Yeah, I wait a wee bit and get a Bold 9900 or Torch 9810.
Good luck and hope you make it to The 10 soon.

Welcome to BB, hope you enjoy your stay!

I'm partial to the 9810 because of the screen and keyboard combo (had both BlackBerry Storm and Storm 2) so the 9900's smaller screen didn't really work for me. However, the feel of the Bold 9900's keyboard was natural and comfortable. I wasn't as fond of the Curves with the separation of the keys, but my thumbs are shaped oddly. I kept getting stuck between them as I was typing.

If you try typing sentences you commonly use on each one you will be able to tell which is better for you. I'm still torn on the Z10 and X10...just wanna see final hardware.

    Welcome again!

I would personally go with the 9900. Very solid device.

You will be pleasantly surprised at how efficient Blackberry phones are at doing social communication. Email, text messages, tweets, all in one place.

Since you are planning to upgrade at some point my suggestion is to save any and all money and go with the Curve. If you are using a phone to get good 'mileage' out of it while in service I would suggest the 9900 instead. The social aspect is well set in the phone so it really comes down to battery life and keyboard quality desired. The Curve has a small battery.

    Hello. Welcome to CrackBerry

I'm kinda the same as you, I'm completely new to BB. I did get a refurb 9780, but thats a whole other story lol (there's a thread on it), which my boyfriend has now claimed lol. So I too, am in the market for a new BlackBerry. I've heard they're probably going to drop the prices of the new ones that are out now, due to BB10 being released with whole new OS, so I think such as ourselves, there are bargains to be had very soon.

I would go have a look at all the ones that are out at the moment, see what you like. I got the 9780, I did like it but it wasn't quite suitable for my needs so I'm looking for something else also, thinking the BB10 going to be too expensive to start with.

    Happy shopping!

Welcome to the Crackberry nation. Either get the Bold 9900 series or wait for BB10.

Thanks everyone for all of the recommendations! I will likely wait a little to see how much prices drop on the 9900 since the new BB10 phones are making headlines. Thanks again!
