We just installed a RIM server at our office when I sync up with it I can only receive email but when I try to send I just get the big red X. My coworkers have no issues. I have talked to Sprint multiple times on the phone and now they want me to wipe the phone and try the resync one more time.

I have my account setup with sprint.blackberry.com but that does not work today either.

Am I correct in assuming I should not have to have an account with sprint.blackberry.com and can just use our RIM server? We are pretty new to the RIM server thing so My Company and I may have just missed something with my setup.

    Thanks for any advice.

open up one of the messages you are trying to send with the RED X. Scroll up to the top of the message and let me know what it says next to: Message Status. This will tell the reason it was not sent. I can assisst you with this when i know what it says there.

    Welcome to CrackBerry.

Our primary focus is on the Smartphone side, few of us have access to the servers and network connections that make it work.

But, some of us would be quite interested in following the general process as you go.

I'm glad the red X issue is being discussed - I've received a few in the past few days.

From my experience this is caused by the send as permission being modified on your exchange server. You can find all the causes and resolutions to this issue with the following public knowledgebase article from BlackBerry Support site.

    BlackBerry Search Results

Microsoft in all of it's glory whenever they update exchange server tend to remove the send as permission on the BES admin account. To them, the no Domain Administrator should be able to send mail as another user. Part of how the BES works is it will send email as your user account when using the BlackBerry. This is a reletively easy fix. Just have your exchange admin check the BESAdmin user account permissions for sendas permissions.

In a Microsoft Exchange 2000 or 2003 environment, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account requires the View Only Administrator permission, as well as Send As, Receive As, and Administer Information Store permissions at the server, mailbox store, and public folder store levels.

Most of the time, if you get an error message, you can go to the BlackBerry Support site and search for it by entering in the error message. ( BlackBerry - PDAs - BlackBerry Support at BlackBerry.com )There are not many issues that are unknown and you can usually find a fix for any issue there
