After waiting in vain for ATT for offer the Passport, I decided to purchase either through the Black Friday deal or the iPhone trade. I went on the BB shop website and the regular price for the device is now $836! Is this BB's way of making up for the potential loss for $550 incentive? I hate marketing games.

It's still the sale price. I don't know where you're looking.

Nothing wrong with it, companies do it every day. Its perceived savings when buying something if the regular price is sky high and the "sale" price is much lower.

How does the regular price matter if the sale price is still on? Even for your "proof" picture

The regular price matters when a consumer is contemplating whether to buy now at the sale price of $499.00 or wait until iPhone buyback is set to take effect (Dec. 1st) after the "sale" is over. Yes, I can buy now at $499.00 or I can wait until the Dec. 1st to take advantage of the so-called upgrade at a possible $800.00 and then get a rebate back in the form of a Visa gift card, but where is the savings? Yes this is common marketing practice, but this is the ish that consumers should stand up to. And plus.. when has the Passport ever been $800.00+?? Regular price my shorts.

Original price was indeed showing 836 in your screenshot, strange.

I have never seen it posted that high, so would attribute it to a glitch or typo in the system.

I am so lost. Op, are you trying to trade up through the iPhone program or buy a BlackBerry from BlackBerry shop? $499 is a bargain for the beast

Unsure why anyone would even care about MSLP ( Manifacturers Suggested List Price )...it is always a jacked up number that is made up to make the regular price look good and sale price even better.... happens in all aspect of retail form cars to clothing... so unsure of the OP logic... even after the sale the price will go back to 599 US or 699 US as these are confirmed pricing by BB,,,, so if the OP is somehow worried that they would pay that high of a price then they should not.... just look around at all the Thanksgiving flyers and you will see MSLP and sale price... even after the sale and item goes back up... it is rarely to the MSLP

Buy the Passport at $499 and sell your iPhone on Craigslist. That will probably be the best deal.

so what it the MSRP is going to 699.00 after the black friday deal. then you would have to 699.00 to get maybe 550.00 back?
that would be the better deal 699.00-550.00 =149.00 ? but putting up 699.00 if I understand the offer.

Yeah, or even just send the iPhone to gazelle if you don't want the hassle of selling it yourself. If price is really the issue, anyone can do that today.

mmmm, I really hope they don't raise the "regular price" after december first just so people don't abuse the iphone trade-in deal.

I'm going to update my pay card and I'm going to go on your online store and buy myself a beautiful RED passport BlackBerry at $499
I 'll have it like yesterday and I shall be conversing via my 'RedBerry' instead of my MAC.
    Correct?

To the uneducated and sheepish consumer it might seem as "nothing wrong with it".

S things like 'save 50%' when you aren't really saving that because that original price is a mark up
