How the battery life on that unit? And notifications? It looks awesome!
From everything I've read battery life is really good.
This is what happens when carriers control update cycles. The Nexus line (although many Nexus S devices didn't get it), iPhones and WP7 devices all have the benefit of not dealing with carriers the way BlackBerrys and skinned Android devices do.
If you're a BB person, and notifications are a BIG deal for you, the current iteration of WP will leave you wanting.
No sound profiles, and can't customize any notifications. In fact, some notification sounds are locked and can't be changed...
Say what now?
That's certainly news to my HD7 where I can chose one of 10 notifications sounds for im & text, email and voicemail. I also get sounds for reminders and other notifications like for instance an update from Pageonce.
Yep they are, harasment, child protection, unlike some e-mails they can't be changed and have phone data date sender and so on.
Even though I would love to have this phone, all of the prepaid carriers with AT&T frequencies are sucky. Either they have data caps or they're too expensive
I guess I worded it wrong. That's what I meant, that you can only use the sounds provided, you can't download a sound or record your own sound and make it your notication sound (or at least not to my knowledge).
Sorry.
Not that it's a deal breaker to me, I think the sounds provided on the Lumia 900 are cool. Hopefully, WP8 will allow custom sounds for notifications, such as having different sound alerts for different contacts and for different events (text, call, email, etc) per contact...
I guess I'm lucky I don't have kids or ex-husbands.
N/a widows has been letting me down for years now I Don't expect anything different from their phone's
I've spent some time with the lumia 800 and 710... and I do love the OS. It is so fast and fluid and beautiful, whats not to like? As for the hardware, the lumia 800 was very snappy and quick (especially compared to my phone) and multi-tasking was as good as it gets on a non PlayBook. All I felt it was lacking was a bigger screen (and of course a front facing camera). It left me wanting more real estate to work with. so for me this is the perfect device. Its even got LTE connectivity which is amazing.
Verdict:
At the $100 price point, this slick phone cant be beat, especially since it can replace your digital camera

I went to wpcentral to check out the 900 video review. I was unimpressed. Looks incredibly boring with less apps than android or ios.
I'm still solidly behind blackberry!
So how do you like your 900?
Admittedly Windows Phone OS is my favorite mobile OS, but the thing about WP is you really need to use it on your own device to appreciate what it is. Even though I was intrigued by Windows Phone OS and the tile interface before I even owned a WP, it wasn't until I bought my HTC Trophy and used it for an hour after loading my e-mail and social networking accounts that the likeable nature (at least to me) of Windows Phone OS became a lot more obvious to me.
Walmart (In Canada) is selling em (Telus Branded) for $23 on a 3-year term. That is crazy!
I do. It is very fast, even though I'm only on HSPA+ now (LTE is coming next month according to the AT&T store manager). I've had no lag, even when running Mehdoh (Twitter app), WhatsApp, and GTalk simultaneously.
Pinch-to-zoom works great.
Setting up the device, adding my contacts/calendar/email accounts was easy. I integrated all my email accounts in one inbox, like I was used to on my BlackBerry.
Battery life has been good, especially considering the fact I've played with the device more today than probably will be usual, since it's brand new.
Call quality was great.
I still have not really tried the camera, but I should have a better idea of camera quality on Wednesday, since I am going to the new aquarium in downtown Cleveland.
