O2 Uk have a great offer on the 9360 pay as you go at £149 with a £20 rebate.
I have a playbook 64gb and currently tether to a Sony ericsson that has been well used and is on it's way out. Yet I want a BB phone to see how my PB works in partnership with it.

This seems like a good deal to me and possibly the BB10 phones will be out of my league pricewise .....but, does this offer suggest they are offloading the 9360's to make way for better stock?

and despite the above... Is the 9360 a good phone for my first BB phone?

If you can afford it, BB10 is going to be in a whole different league compared to the current crop of BlackBerry's, and would be very well worth waiting. But it's going to be a lot more expensive than that, and likely not offered with pay-as-you-go for the first while, so if you can't swing the bill then the 9360 should be a pretty solid phone.

Personally, i'd wait. If you really need something to get you by then i would look for something used.

find the used one. OS 6 or 7 is enough. Even OS 5 is good for bridging. I use my OS 5 bb for tethering to my Playbook.

You will get BB10 on your PlayBook, 9360 is a good phone. That's a great price.

Not sure if you folks have craigslist or something like it close to where you live but if you do......
....My bet is that you could literally steal a nice BB off a site like that.
....I can buy a Bold 9780 for around 40 - 50 bucks here in Seattle.

You could get yer feet wet with a BB and wait for the 10 to come out....
...I don't think I would buy a new RIM Device until the 10 is confirmed to do everything I expect it to do.
...But that's just me.

BB10 is soooo close, I would wait for it but if the price tag is an issue the 9360 is a good phone for sure, specially if you have the playbook to compliment it.

no mention of my wife there.... mind you it is the season of good will so maybe I should buy it now. Buying new toys, (her words not mine! I tell her it's a productivity tool) in February, may not go down too well and as someone said I should have BB10 on my PB at some stage.

£129 (with rebate) seems pretty good for a new phone
