    Hello,

I am debating between a BB Curve 8900 and a BB Bold 9700. I've got AT&T. Which one should I pick?

    TIA!

The major difference between the two is the network speed. 8900 runs on the EDGE network, while the 9700 is 3G, which is vastly faster than the 8900.
The 9700 also comes pre-loaded with OS 5.0, while the 8900 is still running 4.6 (I don't think 5.0 has been officially released by ATT for this model)
The 9700 has a faster processor than the 8900
Other than these differences, they're essentially packing the same hardware. 256mb of internal memory, same screen, same camera.

Honestly, the price is a factor. I've got a Bold 9000, but that's a work phone. I'm due for an upgrade with my plan. Basically, AT&T wants to take me for a ride with how much they want for a 9700. They want $299.99 with a $100 rebate. The Curve is much more affordable. I really want the 9700, but I don't know if I can justify the price. Thoughts?

Shouldn't you get a discount since you're due for an upgrade?

i own both. i used the 8900 for a long time before i decided on upgrading to the 9700. after using the 9700, i miss my 8900, but would never give up the 3G and touch pad. its a no-brainer......get the 9700.

That is my upgrade prices. It's a real shame. But thank you everyone for your input. I really want that 9700 for all the reasons stated. But I don't think I can swing that price.

Both are great phones. The 8900 beats the 9700 in price. If 3G is not important to you, the only advantage to the 9700 is faster processor, latest os, and trackpad.

Wow, makes me glad I stuck with T-Mobile. I paid 129 for my 9700 and only been with T-Mobile 2 years. Get good service and an awesome phone! I can't comment on the 8900, however the stats in certain areas are better on the 9700. For your price though...I would still get it!
