Do you think BlackBerry should enable old BBOS users to use their devices on a standard non-BIS data plan?

As things stand, if users leave BlackBerry having used a BBOS device they don't have the option of using their handset as a backup or secondary device for anything currently requiring BIS, meaning that if they leave, they really leave as their old handset effectively becomes useless. Opening up old handsets for continued use on a standard data plan could arguably give BlackBerry some mindshare back amongst former users.

Counter to this argument is the fact that BBOS devices are still big in some markets, that BlackBerry are still selling more OS7 devices than BB10 devices, and the loss of BIS revenue.

I'm assuming that it's possible for BlackBerry to do this, and there aren't hardware limitations which would prevent this.

I think you hit a good point in the fact BBRY would lose revenue with a move like that. It also might be a security issue as BIS is a very secure means of data usage.
