ugh no...? EUR > USD, also VAT is 27% at MOST, but it's only 25% in Germany anyway. You claim Z30 still costs 565 USD here vs 250 because of shipping and tariffs? Are you nuts? Even without VAT (mwst in German) that's still 452 USD. And we NEVER get discounts. That shouldn't be related to your reasoning either... that's just ripping europeans off to afford discounts in the us/canada... i could get UPS to receive my package and ship it to me and handle all the taxes for a lot less than 565 USD. If I can do it for less, then a company like BB can get it done for even less as well. And that would mean they just ship them all from the US, so there's an extra shipping location involved instead of just directly shipping it to a warehouse in the eu from mexico.

edit.: you can even get the passport for $400 in the US as well...heck i can even get the Z30 for 100EUR less and the passport for 130 EUR less directly from amazon... its just shopblackberry ripping us off.

edit2: http://i.imgur.com/xiLydrz.png vs 735 USD+shipping from shopblackberry. I live in hungary so import fees contain 27% VAT, not just 25% also shopblackberry doesnt even ship here... so you are truly wrong sir

Then buy it off eBay and have it shipped to Europe, I have sold many things to Europeans and now I just ship the item to a shipping center and they handle the duties and overseas shipping.

I sold a passport to a person in Germany and even included my original receipt for warranty. Just a suggestion.

Shop BlackBerry is to blame. They can't price things right for anyone. They hold 8 hour sales. Pick prices randomly for different countries. They suck. They screw everyone. But for some reason they screw the USA a little less. You'd think they'd be decent to Canada.

I guess their logic is that they price it lowest in the country that despises BlackBerry the most.

8 hour sales is being generous. When they had the Z30 for $224 listed on the homepage within 5 minutes of it being posted on there I went to order another one. It was at $224 in my shopping cart. Upon reaching the payment I saw that it had magically changed to $349. How can a price change from when you add it to your cart to right before you click the purchase button. Only Blackberry.

Consider it the price to pay in exchange for not living in America.

But seriously, pretty much any transatlantic commerce shafts someone due to taxes, exchange rates, the like. Nothing unique.

so you feel 500 EUR for the Z30 is fair, yet i can get it for at least 100 less directly from amazon...? ****s more expensive than the newest galaxy s5 ffs and at least 3 years older in hardware and you also get way better warranty as well

seriously, theres no reason to sell it for ~2.35 times the price compared to the usa... not even the new passport was so off.

That's true. The US model neither...

Germany has 19% sales tax, Luxembourg an outrageous 25%! That will be reflected in the price, and *local* promos will also not be available around the globe.

'One world' price, 'one world' currency, one world ...
Is that what we want to be happy consumers...?

But hey, forget about politics, talk about phones. :-D

This is a function of Digital River. Price is not guaranteed until you made (past tense!) payment. It's the same for other Digital River storefronts for other companies they run online stores for.

I reckon Troy was being flippant. It doesn't always come across in text form.

There's nothing new here, or unique about Shop BB.

The $1 equals 1 <whatever euro-currency you want to pick> has always been the case for as long as I can remember (and I'm quite old! ).

As Troy says, some of it is taxes & exchange rates, but mostly I reckon it's done because it's always been done and the products have always sold - even at those stupidly over-inflated prices.

Maybe if all us Euro Socialists didn't buy stuff at those inflated prices, it might change. I'm not holding my breath for that to happen though - few people will deprive themselves of something they really, really want just because Americans are able to buy it cheaper.

So, don't get mad, get even!

Buy from Amazon, though still at a hugely inflated Euro-price I imagine, and don't give your support to shops that rip you off.

The sad truth is that shopBB doesn't care about you as an individual. Only if a sufficient number of Europeans buy from elsewhere is it likely that their price will drop to near the average market price.

On the other hand, their price might still not come down. It's pretty generally true I think that buying anything from a manufacturer-linked shop will be more expensive than buying the same thing through Amazon, etc. ShopBB will sell at their list price, not the street price.

Are you referring to purchase price with or without a contract? There's a major price difference where that's concerned. Also, shipping distance would play a factor I would imagine. The further the product travels the more it's going to cost. Add in all the taxes and whatnot it's going to add up. In the end it doesn't matter, you still feel ripped off.

without contract obviously. but as i said, its just shopbb anyway. but anyway, doing 8 hour flash sales in one region like every week vs not doing it ever is probably not related to shipping costs or vat either..
