Is blackberry still more secure than iphone?
- 11-19-2012, 08:05 PM #3
since you list no specifics in your question i would say in general the BB should be a more secure device.

It's a lot more secure, and it will make you look more professional, IMHO. Everytime I see someone doing something on his iPhone, I assume he or she is playing a game.

Just asking because it seems like if security was so important, then why have so many moved on to iOS and android?
- 11-20-2012, 11:53 AM #7
for most people android and iOS are plenty secure. They set a device password and that is good enough. With any platform you have to be careful what permissions you grant apps/games.

Security for any device is best handled by it's user. Hand a super secure device to an id10t and there goes security outside the window.

Last question. If its not a big deal anymore why does Rim insist on it?

From all of the articles relying on Security, BlackBerry Always wins top place.

I don't think there can ever be too much security, at least not in a practical sense. Having a secure device is great; the more secure, the better. Also, RIM doesn't really scream from the rooftops about security. The agencies that need that level know where to go, and why gloat about something that attracts the wrong attention anyway?
My personal belief, which many do not subscribe to, is that we live in a world where people have all but ceded a belief in TRUE privacy. I also believe that people will generally pick increased functionality over heightened security (which they may unconsciously decide they don't need anyway). - 11-20-2012, 01:39 PM #13

What does Qft mean?
- 11-20-2012, 02:08 PM #15
Because there are still plenty of user for whom it is a big deal. They may not be average consumers, but there are still businesses that want communications to be a secure as possible. RIM wants to maintain the confidence of those businesses. The average consumer is unlikely to complain that there's too much security.

Re: Security
love this!
OP: In a word, yes. RIM uses encryption techniques that are still lightyears ahead of anything apple has even attempted. you have to look at the lineage of both devices. blackberries come from a long line of phones and encryption algorithms targeted for business users to be utilized on various IT networks. iPhone derived from the ipod. Note that Android stores all your email passwords in the cloud BY DEFAULT. I'm not just talking gmail, but passwords used with Thunderbird, Outlook, etc. I consider that a security breech.
Once you put apps on the phone, I'm not really sure if any of these platforms are secure.
