Is there a setting which allows me to have the blackberry screen on while it's being charged? Now, when I charge it, the screen goes dark after 90 seconds after I plug it in. 90 seconds is what I have set as my default for the screen to go dim durnig normal usage.

You have to change that setting if you want it to stay on longer. The same settings apply for when it is charging as when it isnt

The longest setting is for 2 minutes - no way to make it longer? I just want a light or something to let me know it's active/working.

There an app called BBLight (free) which will do this. http://www.tateu.net/software/dl.php?f=bblight
