So today at lunch, I was catching up with some old friends, the moment I walked up to them they eyed my holster attached to my "backpack", first thing that came out of their mouths?
    "Is that a BlackBerry?"
    "It's 2014, you still have a BlackBerry?!?"
They said in disbelief. If I wasn't a teenager in high school, I would have showed them all the amazing Blackberry 10 features, but because it was a high school setting I didn't want to receive nerd status... if I had tried to, they would have told me
    "Shut the f*** up"
    "Cool story bro"
They might have taken my phone too, we rip on each other alot, and take each others stuff, it's friendly and not hostile...it's because I know they would have done as such, that I didn't defend BlackBerry. I'm sorry, please forgive me, I'm cowardly, I shame the branding that my q10 carries. I should have, but I didn't...

Don't let it bug you. You know what you have in that holster. They don't. Hold your head high. You're unique, and that's a good thing!

I'd be way more embarrassed at the fact that it's in a holster. I mean, you might as well carry a Razr V3 in there.

next time say "too bad BlackBerry doesn't get any respect... these new BlackBerrys are actually pretty good, but hardly anyone knows it."

By saying it that way it comes off as a "secret" that you know that they don't.

You wanna really hook them? If they say "ok, show me" you say "you're happy with your (android / iphone) right? I like my BlackBerry, but you just stick with that, you're happy." and try to change the subject.

they'll be begging you to show them, but have Netflix and Instagram side loaded but also show iGrann so they can see the native UI... then you complain "it sucks that IG doesn't do a native app, because as iGrann shows it could be soo gooood, but I have iGrann so no problem"

We were heading to my daughter's high school orientation today. She was texting on her Z10. Her friend asked what phone is that? She answers a BlackBerry. Her friend said "is that the new one? ". My daughter answers yes. Her friend says "cool". I worried that she would get picked on but she likes being independent. And she came from Android phones and has an Asus tablet.

Actually mine are holstered, I always walk with two devices one on each side, and one in my hand, due to the long term effects and health related issues, it's best to try to keep ALL devices at bay rather than up close to your person.

No need for shame. The silliness will end as people mature. This reminds me of my high school days when everyone was getting the Ti-82 (Ti 85 maybe?) graphing calculators. I went out and spent my money on an HP48GX. Even the instructors gave me crap for having it. When I demonstrated 3D graphing, mainly by entering the equation for a circle, the constant library, using the data stack for complex calculations, the way it blew the doors off the latest Ti and Casio graphing calculators, and how I programmed it to use its IR ports as a remote control, and a few games, the perceptions changed.

I used that same HP48GX through university, and still use it to this day,20+ years later. Do not be part of the heard and go for what is popular: Go for what you like and works best for you. I just smile and reply with 'Yep, best of both worlds'. Then I end with an even bigger smile on my face and go back to what I was previously doing and completely ignore them.

Oh man, that brings me back. I remember getting a Casino Calculator Watch from "Consumers Distributing". (I believe that store was only in Canada?) Anyways, I was the nerd of the week until I showed them how I aced a math test by placing it flat under the test papers.

All I took from this thread is that some of you guys are exactly why BlackBerry users get this kind of treatment. I'd laugh my fkn arse off if I teased someone for their technology and got these hilariously cheesy and dramatic replies, lmao. It's guaranteed comedy.
