So when you download a ringtone from here, it's easy to assign it as your calling tone. But I've been looking for a while now on where to go to assign different tones as text message alert. Anyone want to point me in the right direction? I'd appreciate it.

Can't easily do it on an 8320. You would have to create a new profile and add an exception, and do that for each contact you want to assign a tone.
