What do you guys think? Is 'Research In Motion' a better name than 'BlackBerry' for this corporation?

Note: Im not suggesting that the company should change its name again.

EDIT: There is a poll in this thread, which I dont believe is viewable via cb10; but please vote if possible!

I kinda like BlackBerry as a name better, but to be honest they should think of changing the company name to something completely different other than RIM or BlackBerry. Both those names have been tarnished, they gotta think of something new

RIM sounds better for the enterprise, but BlackBerry is the most known name under consumers in my area
Everyone used to call the company BlackBerry, years before the name change

I prefer RIM but sad part lol nobody knew that was the actual name. 99% of the people I dealt with when doing tech support for them thought the company actually was called BlackBerry.

My lord, a year ago when Thor changed the name to Blackberry everyone here praised it as the greatest decision ever.

Chen is looking for a way to get the Blackberry name out of people's minds because their brand image is shot. It has nothing to with liking one name over the other.

Research in Motion could have been the name of the R&D department. I rather they be named BlackBerry. Why go back to confusion?

NEITHER. It needs to be something new like one poster said BOTH names are tarnished. It gives a bad vibe to people who see BlackBerry as "dead and going out of business".

Agree in this. QNX powered by Blackberry seems like your car's entertainment system is powered by your.... BB Curve?

Neither is inherently better, it depends on what your company is going to do. Sans devices, RIM is better suiting, whereas with the devices BlackBerry is better suiting.

RIM might be the better name but at this point its the least of their worries. Even John Chen says they have no plans to switch at the moment. They have to focus on the things that will make them money and frankly changing the name right at the moment makes little to no sense.

For better or worse, the name BlackBerry is iconic, and representative in the minds of many of the company formerly known as Research in Motion.
