I have an 8703e that I bought used this summer. The scroll wheel has broken.

I can't buy a new one through my carrier ($400+) so I'm looking at either a used Curve on Craiglist ($200) or sending this off to be fixed ($100) until my contract allows a new one (11 months). In addition to the scroll wheel, the phone keeps locking up and crashing.

Are used Blackberry's problematic? I don't want to get a another used one that needs repair again.

Get a curve, brilliant phone imo.

Get away from that scroll wheel the trackball rules. You can adjust trackball sensitivity and as long as you keep it clean it is better than a mouse on a computer.
One of uncles has an old BB with a wheel I didn't care for it at all and I let him play with my Pearl now he wants one, He just too tight on the wallet to get one.

Get the curve just find a decent seller with high reviews if you go the ebay route.
