I tried searching for this but didn't find anything helpful.

Basically, I removed the IT policy from my used BlackBerry without a problem, but the firewall is still locked on with no way to disable it in the settings. This means I can't run Opera Mini, as it comes up with a firewall error during the install process.

How do I get rid of the firewall?

Give the device a wipe and reload using BBSAK. It works wonders.

Will it come back if I restore from a backup?

It is, but it's locked, I can't get the menu up to turn it off.

It's possible, but it doesn't hurt to try.

Save the numbers of your contacts to the sim card phone book first in case you really need to keep them, also, see if you could write down the into on your device that's in the contacts. It's a pain to enter it all over again if the restoring causes the same thing. You'll have to go clean.

Call your carrier and have them disconnect it from BES. Unless your boss put it on there.
