I found that in about, if we select network and more options, it says "Register BlackBerry".
Don't know if some one already posted this but can anyone tell me what is the purpose of it?

Is this not the same as register host routing table on BBOS? So should enable BBM on BB10.

In the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) days of Pre BB10, this would register the handheld's PIN with the RIM NOC as all Internet went through there. If the mobile provider (Bell Mobility in my case) had properly provisioned your handset for BIS, you would get a success message. Now, the only service/app on your phone which uses the (now) BlackBerry NOC are PIN-based apps like BBM and PIN messages. Selecting this menu option would serve the purpose (educated guess) of registering your handheld for these services. I don't get a success message as before, though.

I know that my carrier requires a zero-cost "1x RIM provisioning" add-on for BBM/PIN messages to work.

When I did a device swap from OS 7.1 to OS 10, my BlackBerry Protect would not work until I registered my new device. Maybe this is another app that needs the provision......

Makes sense as Protect is a PIN-based service too.
