    Default random thoughts

I think that the icons look much better with a black background. I don't know why RIM insists on using blue. Maybe to throw us off on purpose? But I don't think so.

I'm hearing whispers/rumours RIM's trying as hard as poosible to launch 1st in the US but it's starting to look like it might be 1st in the UK.

All the marketing dollars will not make much of a difference if the carriers don't support it. I got my first BB by accident. When I went in to replace and old flip phone I was leaning towards a Windows Mobile phone and the salesperson pushed me on BlackBerry. Same thing that's happening now but for the competition. That needs to change.

I also believe that ultimately the tide will turn once the devices get into the hands of users at work when people get the phones for free and have to use them. These people will realize that this is a new BlackBerry and love it and will let others know. Mouth to mouth advertising.

    Can't wait for BB10.

agreed with the icons and background. even the icons themselves look nicer. I also like the solid white titles on the active frames. I think they look better than the grey transparent titles.

who knows what we'll see come launch. but one thing that is a good sign is knowing that RIM are aware of how important it is for the os to also look good as well as function well. if you look at the transition of the blackberry hub from the first demos, to the recent demos, they have really made an effort to beautify it. the hub looks really nice now, with the blue headers etc.... its nice and colourful and there's nothing dull about it. I've noticed this on the bbm header as well as warning notifications ( or toasts I think they called) do you want to save this email, yes, cancel, discard... and password popups as well... nice blue headers.. all looking good.

having said all of this, there is no way RIM are going to abandon the icons and leave them the way they are, as they have clearly made a huge effort for everything else... it wouldn't make sense to do that, so hopefully they are working on some really nice icons...

    that's my random thought!

    enjoy

I'm pretty sure that those are the newly sized icons. I don't think they'll change much more.

I think it would be cool if RIM designed the icons to animate or transform into the colors that are displayed in the specified wallpaper the user chooses through the color schemes. So say there's a wallpaper that is of a Ducati Motorcycle, the icons could transform to have a silver backing of some sort to match the motorcycle parts. Just something about those boxes that just don't look good. I mean others say they like, others criticize. It's hard to please.
