    sv115 is correct. If you are using the GPS while moving, the mapping software will be downloading new maps periodically as you move.

    thank you so much for the input! I thought BB map is pre-loaded, so that data is not needed just like regular GPS. hope one day navigon or tomtom develop a software for BB just like iphone.

    If you need preloaded maps, you might want to consider TrekBuddy and Mobile GMaps. These are the only two mapping apps that I know of for the BlackBerry that don't use real-time data. I haven't used either.

    Blackstar Navigation doesn't use data...but there are no maps. It is strictly a latitude/longitude and waypoint tracking/geocaching tool.
