I am on a factory unlocked Z30 on TMO's network.

When I check for updates through my phone there are none.
Should I be looking for updates via BlackBerry Link since my phone is unlocked?

    Question about the current updates-img_20140903_072543.png

That is the latest official OS for your carrier
If your somewhat tech savy you can load a leak or a higher OS.

You can be checking with blackberry Link or your device.
    1. If you check from your device, you will get the only ones your carrier is pushing.
    2. If you check with blackberry link, you will get the available official update which might sometimes be different from the one your carrier is pushing.

Thank you. That's what I was thinking too. Seems like I remember seeing people posting about getting updates direct from BlackBerry on their factory unlocked phones in the past.

Um are you sure about number 2? I'm under the assumption that if you check with link your getting your official carriers OS as well. The only way is to load a higher OS via autoloader or another third party program

Yes checking via his device or link is the same, it will pull his carrier OS. Just his carriers OS

I've gotten updates directly from BB before by shutting down the phone, taking out the carrier SIM and then searching for software update via WiFi. For some reason that hasn't worked with this latest 10.1.2.3xxx update. I hadn't thought to try Link while SIM-less, I'll have to give that a try.

Let us know if that works. I have an unlocked Z10 and an AT&T locked Q10. Both are now on 10.2.1.3014. I use the same SIM card in both.
I'm curious to see which one gets the next update first.
