Though I haven't held a Q10 in my hands, I can't help but think it doesn't quite look as good as the 9900.
I have the Zed now, but I don't think it looks half as good as my old Bold 9900.
Something about the silver band, the curved frets, the aggressive stance as it sits on a desktop.... sigh.
Not the Zed's fault really. Can't do as much with a handset that doesn't have a physical keyboard.
Mind you the Q10 took a couple of steps back in my opinion.

    9900

    If I want a full-touch phone, I'll get something besides a Blackberry.

And I've as much a desire for a full-touch phone as I do a tumor.

i agree the 9900 is a much better looking phone than the Z10 and the Q10. i am still using my 9900 at the moment i will most likely and up getting the Q10 but i know i will miss my 9900 and i will also miss having a trackpad.

I will disagree with u all. I've had all the keyboard Blackberries.

The Z10 is my first all touch. Time after time I pick up my bold 9900 and feel like it's ancient technology. As far he virtual keyboard goes, it's the same size as the bold or Q, the auto correct is identical to the physical, the only difference is the incorporated flick technology.

Z10 rocks! No virtual keyboard can compare

If you need BIS and specific OS 7 features I'd say 9900. Other than that the Q10 will be superior in most every way.

I will keep rocking out my z10, but I had a chance to try out a q10 today.

    What a sweet phone.

Although my wife rocks out the 9900,(sweet phone that I like a lot ) the q10 is much nicer.
This phone is going to win over a lot of people. Diehard BlackBerry peeps still love the keyboard, so I have to disagree that the keyboard is old technology.
This is a win win for BlackBerry.

I have a friend that is very displeased with photos he takes with his 9900. He showed me how fuzzy they looked especially pictures of closeup writing. We did a test comparing the same subject with his 9900 vs my 9810. Sure enough the 9900 photos had unreadable text whereas the 9810 took much clearer pictures. If photo quality of close objects is a must, make sure you ask in the store to try it.

I have no first hand experience with the Q10, but it may have a better camera for these types of pictures than the 9900. Just keep this in mind. My Z10 takes better and clearer pictures than my 9810, so I am very pleased

    Hopes this helps.

I like the Z10 and the Q10. I will more than likely 'try' the Q10 upon release. The issue I have to get over is:
    1. Do I want more screen real estate, with no physical keys
    2. Do I want less screen, and have faster typing with physical keys

These are my 'life' choices. So bloody hard

You could have both you know. ;-)

It also depends on how you type on the physical keyboard too.

If the Q10 ships with the ability to sync over 30 days of email it's an easy choice....
    ...Go with the Q10!

If on the other hand the email isn't sorted out at launch I will be keeping my 9930.....
    ...Until it does.

All things being equal the Q10 is the WAY better device....
...But I agree that the 9900 looks and feels great!

Hmmm, I don't think the superficial nature of my post came through.

    I am not talking functionality.

I am talking about the aesthetics of the handsets.

(Yeah, I do miss OS 7.1 on the 9900. But not enough to give up on my Zed.)

I suppose the thread should have been titled "Q10 or 9900? Which is the better looking handset?"

Alright so I see many of you are guessing whether you will prefer Q10 or 9900. Let me tell you my side of the story because I have a unique perspective as I have both phones right now! (Dev Alpha C and 9900)

Before I got the Dev Alpha C (C), I never imagined switching over to the full touch Z10 because I love the keyboard and the track-pad. Then, I got the C to test out and play around with. Let me tell you that there is a HUGE difference between the 9900 and the C which is essentially the Q10 in disguise.

I am not just talking about the obvious common knowledge stuff like the OS, the fact that QnX is insanely good at multitasking or the fact that there are hardware differences. The C is much better in almost every aspect of BB I love.

    The biggest differences:

    - The AMOLED screen: It's just absolutely stunning compared to the 9900. I wish I had an AMOLED TV, monitor, PlayBook with AMOLED etc etc. The colour saturations and depth of the colours on the C far exceed the 9900. I used to think that the display doesn't really matter but any thing is pleasant to look at on the C!!!

    - The browser: INSANE on the Q10. Loading the desktop version of NHL.com while using mobile hot spot of the 9900 in less than 30 seconds to play a game live. 9900 doesn't even come close.

    - The keyboard: Oh man. If you think the keyboard is perfect as is on the 9900; you are dead wrong! BlackBerry outdid itself by just changing the shape of the keyboard! (that sounded like something an Apple fanatic would say). It just felt so natural using the straight keyboard and then when I switched back over to 9900, it felt awkward and harder to use than the C's keyboard!! O_O

    - The track-pad: I thought I would have difficulties without it but let's just say that not having it has not made that much of a difference to me. Yeah, there are times when I wished that I didn't have to reach the top corners to save a new calendar appointment but it honestly won't make any difference unless you're doing physical labour while trying to add the appointment.

    - The screen size: I won't say much but the extra space from the trackpad and the call buttons = good.

I want to continue this post but I have an exam to study for and so I'll just finish off by saying that if I give the 9900 a 5/5, I give the C and the Q10 a 10/5. If you want to decide between the two, don't even think of getting the 9900 if you want the best experience.

You got a point concerning the 9900 being exceptional! I returned the z10 and went back to my 9930. Being able to interact with the device by touch screen, track pad, and the keyboard is the best it can get for me, at this time. I will give the q10 a try, its large battery, the hub, browser, and the touch point circle are great features to combine with the physical keyboard. But there's no way I'll get rid of my 9930. I've set it to the side at least four times while trying out top tiered Androids, and then the z10.

The reason that the 9900 takes fuzzy close up photos is the lack of auto focus. I would have prefered blackberry to have made the phone a little thicker and added an auto focus camera. as i pointed out its the trackpad that i will miss most.

If you don't already have a BB7 device then I would say go with the Q10. I say this as someone with a 9900 who will be sticking with it for a bit yet. I say that because I think if you have a BB7 device the need to switch isn't as big unless you really want the latest and greatest. BB10 brings some amazing new features to the table but I don't think they dwarf what BB7 devices offer at the moment and certainly don't require an immediate switch. But if you're coming from anything older I think it just makes more sense to go with the newer hardware and software because at the end of the day BB10 is going to be the one getting updated more often and BB10 is the one that developers are producing content for so for long term gains it just makes more sense.

Think I'll take that advice. My 9930 is still relatively new, and it does what I want it to do. Once it dies in the distant future, might replace it with a Q-10, 11, or whatever is out by then that has a physical keyboard.

Go with the Q10 over the 9900. Keep moving. You will only have a better touch screen experience and from what I hear, the keyboard is better on the Q10. Not that the keyboard on the 9900 needed to be improved.

I've got a 9930 and can only hope my boss gets his head straight and moves us to BES 10 and onto BB10 phones.
I just hope that when BlackBerry comes by tomorrow, they bring an alpha C devices.
