Poynt probably gets paid when users click on the "offers nearby" and purchase those. However, restaurant/hotel deals have a lot of competition with Groupon/Foursquare/other companies.
I've never bought any of the "offers nearby" from Poynt, and I suspect that not a lot of other people have either.
