Possible outage in Europe
It seems that we have an outage here in Europe (Greece) for last two hours.
I have more than 300 users in bes and they cant send or receive email and even bbm it seems that it is not working.
Do you experience any similar problems ? - 09-21-2012, 03:46 AM #3
I don't think whats app will be a BIS/BES issue

I work for a UK Mobile Network and can confirm there is a BB outage.
RIM are investigating.
Apprently, they did a planned upgrade last night... And service has not gone live properly since. - 09-21-2012, 03:51 AM #6
As far as I know, the latest releases of whatsapp use the PUSH servers from RIM, so if there is no BIS connection WhatsApp also won't work. Besides that, there does not appear to be any network connectivity (calling and sms work fine though).
If it is just a Vodafone disruption I'll mention it here. - 09-21-2012, 03:53 AM

An update from RIM Support (we have besc) its a partial service outage.
The problem seems to be bigger in Vodafone.Last edited by ioannis_bbe; 09-21-2012 at 03:55 AM.

Turn on wifi, for those who have it. You'll be able to get BIS working. The poster above me suggested it. Different route, so you don't get cut off from bbm and e-mails.

BlackBerry technical problems - ITV NewsReports of technical problems by BlackBerry users on Friday echo the server issues that hit the devices in October 2011.
BlackBerry has confirmed that users in Europe, the Middle East and Africa are being affected.
The server problems in the previous crash, which caused millions of users to lose service for several days, began in BlackBerry's EMEA region before spreading worldwide.
BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIM) said on Friday they are investigating the issue.
“We are currently experiencing a BlackBerry service issue impacting some users in Europe, Middle East & Africa. All relevant support teams are working to resolve the issue. We apologize to any customers who may be affected,” said a RIM statement. - 09-21-2012, 05:21 AM #21
Looks limited to vodafone network. Turning on wifi will work for BIS if the wifi provider is not vodafone (presumingly). I'd suggest not to use the "vodafone wifi" app but instead hit the wifi settings and search for a friendly open hotspot ... or secured, if you have credentials/password.
