My sister has given me her 9500 phone to install a sat-nav (possibly google maps) and a phone lock application (i will search for a free one). I have found them and can download onto computer but cant see how to install them. Is the only way by downloading to the phone?

Google Maps is an OTA install. Go to Google using the phone browser and navigate to the Maps program. Be sure your browser is set to emulate BB (that's the default) or you may trick Google into trying to download a version for some other platform. You don't specify the phone lock application, so I can't help you with that.

If you have downloaded an application that comes with an .ALX/.COD file you must start Desktop Manager to launch the application installer via your computer..
