Yes, I have a few Android apps but like many apps, there utility is somewhat limited and I would just figure out another way of doing things.

When, Android runtime was first incorporated into Bb10, I took full advantage of the Amazon app store. After downloading about 20, I came to the realization that they really didn't change the mobile experience and that most were more hassle than worth. Deleted 18 and kept two.

It's always great to have options but the App thing is overblown.

Yes, without android i am still fine with Native apps. I believed we have great OS, and the app would only get better.

uh okay, so why isn't there a response thingy that's like
"yes, however I appreciate that they do, as I am not currently not using any however occasionally run one for an hour before deleting it because I find it distracting (ex: Instagram which I download every two weeks for about an hour) and also I really wish we had Google Play"

lol... no seriously, none of your answers fit, I don't think I "need" them, however I enjoy them, and I will continue to buy BlackBerrys so long as compatibility is maintained and hope that it will also increase. Note that I did not say that I would stop buying them if it didn't, it would just be a whole other calculation, I really like the OS, it functions very efficiently for me, I've used various Android iterations and Touch Wiz and iOS, and well, in the end, here I am, on a BlackBerry - well I'm on my laptop right now actually, however my phone is currently a Z30.

OK. Read through the thread. I already said I would have reworded it, but now it's too late. I don't see what the "big deal" is with the format anyways.

What I am trying to determine is whether you would still be on a BB10 IF the Android runtime did not exist at all. So if you answer the "Absolutely" one, then you do not "NEED" the runtime to stay on the platform.

Nope...as much as I love BB10, there are too many apps that I use often or am very interested in. No runtime means I probably would've been tempted by another platform by now

As a busy user in the civil engineering business development industry, nothing touches Blackberry and the BB10 os.

    Nothing.

Well, that's kinda kruel.. It's not absolutely unneeded since we got a limited native offer while Android has decent collection of apps covering everything

I wouldn't have. I had an iPhone 4 before (aka lots of apps) and the Android runtime was the one thing that convinced me. With hindsight I would not buy another BlackBerry device again, as the Android runtime is mostly rubbish to me (bad performance, some key apps don't work). Just to think of how many apps I would not have had without the Android runtime: Skype, Netflix, Spotify, Wunderlist, Telegram, public transport apps, 1Password. No way.

actually, almost all big devs will provide their app on bb10 gradually even if there is no android runtime support.........but if bb hasn't allowed android runtime, all those devs would have released a gr8 native app rather than a stupid android app.............like viber 10,flipboard,skype..etc
