Pretty sure the 9790 has Java seeing that BlackBerryOS is built using Java.

The 9790 is essentially a 9780 with a touch screen and better hardware.

Like the other person said, Java is a big part of BBOS. But I think the GSMArena means that Java isn't supported in the browser (can't view webpages that use Java)

As mentioned above, the BBOS is built on java. Anyway, what do you need java for?

The difference is in the (in)accuracy with which a third party website has documented the devices. Both phones use Java for a large part of their functionality. Go with the 9790 unless you can't use touchscreen.

Sigh. Let's clear this one up. All BlackBerry smartphone devices currently out there run Java, including but not limited to the 9700, 9780, 9790. The only devices that are running the new platform (not Java) are the Developers devices, so you're in the clear. Buy whatever model you please knowing that it has Java.

Dude, any blackberry device your deciding to buy has Java. Yes, that of course includes both ones mentioned in this thread. All current versions of bbos is based on Java besides the Playbook.

Don't know how much clearer it can be made.

Those websites are also wrong. Like GSM Arena, they catalog specs and don't always do so accurately. Perhaps they all get their (mis)information from the same place, the way you see the same text from Wikipedia articles on all kinds of websites.

So: both phones DO have Java. The difference between the phones is that the 9790 has a touch screen, has a more powerful CPU and more internal memory and storage, and runs on OS 7. If I had to choose between the two, there's no doubt I'd choose the 9790.

i think the op is referring to java support in the browser.

i'll have to double check my old blackberrys; but i seem to recall that os5/6 supported java but os7 doesn't.

java script is however supported on all bb browsers.

Come on man, your question has been answered 8 ways to Sunday.

Both device use an OS that is that are Java based. Both devices you are
looking at support javascript in their browser.

Your ONLY decision at this point is do you want the touchscreen unit or
    the one that isn't touch.

The only last thing I can think of that he might be asking about is if you can run Java applets in the browser, which you cannot.

So let's break this down one last time...

If you buy ANY BlackBerry right now, you will be able to install Java applications onto the phone and run Java Script in the browser. In addition to that, you cannot run Java applets in the browser.

We have now answered everything. If you want to re-ask your question, please be beyond specific. "someone reply me plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" is not an acceptable reply.
