USB port is an easy fix. Have done four thus far and have another Playbook on the way to fix.

I checked on my Z30 and 3.3.0.34 is installed, did a check for updates but no 3.3.0.38 for me yet

Seems 3.3.0.38 BB Bridge was release AUG 21 2014....and you need PLAYBOOK OS 2.1.0.1283 or later...

The reason I ask is say one wants a Passport on the Verizon network. It would be nice to teather it to your main blackberry device and use data and calls with it.
