Phantom cell phone vibration is a sign you need a tech break
I saw this article on Lifehacker today; somehow I don't see myself allocating enough resources to combat the problem. For that matter any time I hear anything at home that I can't quite identify I immediately look to see if my desktop is on, now that I've silenced it with a new heatsink.

I'd say it happens once an hour if not more.

That's the part that prompted me to share with the class - I tried that suggestion and discovered it makes it worse. Can't live without push notifications now; I can at least put the thing down. Without push I'd constantly be checking.

I guess it's not my back problems or others when I feel my thigh vibrate and check my phone and nothing is on it.

Sounds like he's recommending switching from BlackBerry. If you change to iOS or Android, you'll take the 10 to 15 minute break every couple of hours to charge. And the push notifications wouldn't be the same.To counter the anxiety, Rosen suggests not carrying your device 24/7 and taking 10 to 15 minute tech breaks every couple of hours to reset your brain. Good advice, whether you've got phantom cellphone vibration syndrome or not. Also, learn to live without push notifications and turn on only the actionable alerts to preserve your sanity and make you more productive.
Why is it that when your contract commitment is up, the phone you always wanted is now old and the phone you now want won't be out until the next quarter?
