I've notice this... with every phone I have owned. I've always kept my phone in my front left pocket, and have always ended up with a worn out square over that pocket.

Recently, I noticed an avid iPhone user had the same worn out square in the shape of an iPhone on his chinos.

    Nothing new.

I have a similar problem, but it is not caused by a square phone.
Nope. Yours is caused by an itty bitty flip phone.

To keep on topic, so far my Passport hasn't busted out of my pants. I'm kinda disappointed now, lol.
Do you fully charge your phone at night? It also helps to bookmark one or two porn sites ROFL...

On a serious note, my keys poke holes in my front left pocket then my change falls out. Should I start a new thread, or can I mention it here?

Now that you mention it, I'm kinda pissed off at what my wallet is doing to my back pants pocket... I'll have to check the warranty and see if I can return it, lol.

Just carefully stitch the pockets from an old pair of jeans over the holes. No one will know if you take the time to match up the thread patterns...

THere's really only one solution to this problem.
GET RID OF THE PASSPORT. SAVE YOUR PANTS!

You might wanna also consider getting professional help and I don't know what you do for work (no, I didn't read most of the posts)
but when you decide what you wanna be when you grow up, find something where you don't have contact with anything living.

I don't put/carry my Passport in my trousers (and certainly not my boxers), but I have found that the very pointy corners do sometimes catch on the lining of pockets in old jackets (where the lining is already quite knackered) - maybe this has a minor upside as it has led to me finally getting some jacket pockets relined....

I've always thought that the AT&T Passport's rounded corners were a better functional design feature (whether or not the AT&T design is aesthetically more pleasing, which I don't really give a stuff about)

    My opinion is this -

    1) neither wallets or phones belong in a back pocket, due to posture, ergonomic and security reasons;

    2) the phone will be stressed in either the front or rear pocket when wearing tight fitting pants or trousers, most definitely while in motion or seated and should be avoided, saving temporary storage while standing; and

    3) the Passport is all about business and should be carried in such a manner, such as in a blazer pocket, suit, shirt pocket, briefcases or belt holster.

Your BlackBerry Passport is a thing of beauty, utility and productivity that is well designed and built. Unfortunately your pants have been owned by 'the boss' of all phones and you should consider buying more than one pair ;-)

At first I saw this as a real drawback to the unwieldy shape of the Passport.

But now I'm realizing that it might force me to carry it in a way that offers less radiation to my pelvic region.

It's a nearly 200 gram brick with sharp edges. The iPhone 4 wore a hole in the back pocket of my jeans. It stands to reason that the Passport is capable of more damage than that.
