Does anyone else miss OS7 and the Bold series I miss the simplicity of it all and the effortless nature. It did what it was suppose to do and was for just us nothing like anything else. Thinking about getting a Bold 9900 loved the phone

Sure I loved OS7. I also loved parachute pants. Doesn't mean I'm gonna go out and wear em again!

OS7 was, and still is a great OS for those that just want to comunicate, very mature... But in today's "smartphone needs" it has some shortcomings on the "non phone" related stuff.

I agree completely. I really enjoy BB10, but there was absolutely no beating OS7 on the Bold for email.

It may seem small, but I really miss being able to select multiple emails at one time to delete and easily being able to swipe between emails.

Work has slowed down for me, but if it were to ever return to how crazy it used to be I would likely pick up a 9900 just for plowing through my emails on the run.

OS7 was great. Would I go back to it? No. I agree with jaydee5799. It was great but now it is outdated. It is missing things that I have now grown accustomed to.

I loved how easy it was to use OS7, but after upgrading to BB10, there is no going back.

My biggest reason for leaving my 9900 was the lack of 4g....

Now that being said, I'm very happy with bb10 in fact I think it's the best os I've used bar none. At times I think back on the simplicity of os7 and, while I wouldn't say I miss it per se, I could very easily go back to that system (just so long as 4g service was implemented)

Yes OS7 was really good, but thats not the point, BB10 is far and away superior to it that they should not be mentioned in the same sentence.

Cassette tapes were way better than records, Cd's were way better than cassette's, that said there is always nostalgia for the older technology but you would never go back.

I went from my Q10 to my 9930 a few days ago and it felt great. Things just work without hassles. The phone itself is a solid piece of work and the whole OS7 works flawlessly at all I need without having to think twice. The problem is that once you get used to the slick integration of BB10 with it's swiping and thumb flicking and easy alarm setting and this and that, it's difficult to stay with OS7 for too long. If you haven't switched to BB10, I don't think you need to do so to be totally satisfied. But once you go to BB10, going back to OS7 for good is difficult. But I am glad I never got rid of my 9930 and I will continue using it once in a while. It's like driving my beautiful 1968 VW Bug. Nice, but I'm not sure I want it as my only car.

BTW Just Jack, cassette tapes were not better than records. CDs were better than cassette tapes..... I'll give you that much. Just because something is new does not make it better.

Agree with you but I find the music analogy funny because, well, the best audio quality can be found with a good record player and a tube amplifier. A lot of DJs still use records. The reasoning behind the change in technology from record, to tape, to digital CD to MP3 was the size, cost and efficiency. It made portable music more universally appealing. Nobody would bother with the old tech nowadays anyway. You can only use it in your house and it can get really expensive.

Right, records were and are better than tapes in terms of sound quality but the terms of the conversation is using a portable device, sound quality of a record goes way down when you hooki it up to your car stereo and go for a cruise. Lol.

I too miss the simple functionality of OS7 and my Bold 9900. So doesn't help my dad has a Bold 9930 courtesy of his job. Looks like I'm going to go digging in boxes in the garage for a couple hours of nostalgia.

It was ok but no way I'm going back to spinning clocks, restarts, freezing, sub par apps, etc... the z10 on 10.2.1 is way ahead of os7. It had things I liked but the benefits of os10 far outweigh the stuff I miss from os7. In fact the only 2 things I miss from it right now was an app that turned off my network when no service was available to save battery and another that turned on/off wifi based on location. Think the second was wifi manager.

Basically, I don't miss it. I miss just 2 of the apps.

Sorry if was already said but the Q10 with 10.2.1 loaded gives back pretty much all OS7 features like home screen speed dials, shortcuts, conference call numbers in address book, etc. The 9900/9930 was amazing but the Q10 blows it away, especially with 10.2.1
