Just got my BB 2 weeks ago so just "learning the ropes". I see so many posts regarding the HTML email but needing to be running 4.5. Would this be the only reason for upgrading to the 4.5? Anything else that would be a + ?

before installing 4.5 my curve's overall speed was really bothering me. Now its significantly faster, does not stall on me and the browser looks a lot nicer as well. Can record video with the camera now too.
There are literally dozens of 4.5 threads that contain lots of good information, but other reasons are a much better native browser (I deleted Opera), an inherent L theme, video and voice recording for your 8310, and it runs a little bit faster.
Okay, so if I want to upgrade, what do I need to do?
You would need to download the beta software and install it. I'm sure someone will PM you the link. ;)
Thanks. That would be appreciated.
You mean if someone asked nice a link might show up in a PM? Then they could follow the instructions on the siite to install,

I would really like that to happen also.
We can dream that are such nice people out there in CB land. :)
To install OS 4.5 is a non-trivial exercise. You need to download the product and install it on your PC
Delete the Vendor.xml file in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader.
Connect your PC to your phone and run Desktop Manager.
Look at this thread too as it says the official version shoul dbe released in September.

if anyone could send me a pm, maybe with a link that could be helpful for my bb to obtaining the 4.5os that would be much appreciated
You're right Pete, it's not something to do lightly. I'm still new to the BB and while I have good tech skills, I don't know enough to feel comfortable doing it yet. I remember really messing up my old 386 when I first got it.
I have lots to learn yet. I also think it will go smoother when I can do it with CS available - not that there aren't a lot of smart people here. Just saying...
And for everyone asking for a link [like me], all we have to do is google it. I don't think anyone has all day to send a bunch of PM's to poeple he or she doesn't know.
