Looks like the UK is going the same way as the US, as O2 have announced that they are scrapping the unlimited data tarrif for new customers from the 24th of June.

Those signing up to smartphone tarrifs upto 35/month will have 500MB included, with the option of buying a 5-500MB or a 10-1GB bolt on if they exceed this limit.

There is a larger included allowance for more expensive tarrifs, upto a maximum 1GB on the 60/month option.

The date coincides with launch the new iphone, so no prizes for guessing WHY they are going this way.

For BlackBerry users this will be a huge increase in allowance if it is extended to the BIS plans. The previous BB plan allows only 200MBytes under fair use policy - but AFAIK it was rarely exceeded and even more rarely enforced.
