BlackBerry has got to do something. Their notification system seems complicated and not available directly for devs.

I know for once they have to be approved by bb, and Idk if that's good or not but they better figure a way for those notifications to work.

It's something that's been ignored for a while but headless sounds less worked out. If they could just figure a way for notifications to PUSH Like on ios, that'd be awesome

Possibly. I don't know the details but having used ios and seeing the fact that android apps such as kik, Viber and a couple others can push notifications, I've come to the conclusion that they are failing in this regard.

And yes Viber and kik and badoo and a host of others do push it to the hub. With kik I see the name of the sender and most times the message.
With Viber I see the name and I think the messages. With others I see "you have X amount of messages " depending on how it's coded.

What I want to know is why can't I get notifications on the Crackberry App like you can with the Crackberry app on iOS? There must be some limitation here. I know that the Crackberry app is basically tapatalk but it's nice getting the notifications.

That's because it doesn't do notifications. There isn't even an option for it like there is on the Android app (which is far superior than the BB10 app) and the iOS app (which doesn't have the bells and whistles of the Android app but does the forums well).

So that means it would have to be "open" in order to receive notifications?

Yeah I think so. It has background notification settings though it says for when the app is "not visible", as in backgrounded or when the screen is locked. Does NOT say when app is not running.

i have to agree, notifications on BB10 is terrible. i feel that bbos notification is unmatched, not even ios can take that title away.

Referring the actual point of this thread:
    Hub is good!
    Hub integration is good!
The way that devs have to receive approvals for hub integration and headless support - not good.

Now, all these restrictions makes some sense. With no filter for hub integration and headless, BBW will be crowded by mostly useless apps, that run in background for no particular reason. Meanwhile, try to imagine, what your hub will look like, if any app will have the possibility to create it's own account.

BlackBerry has put itself in this position.
They created a great feature (I mean HUB), that is hard to manage without restrictions.

Currently you can always delete things from the hub for showing up.
Also they have to figure something out because apps like bleacher report used to push match day notifications to my ios and I do miss that. Wouldn't go back but I shouldn't have to give up little things like that when ik there is something BlackBerry can do
