    Can someone explain what "push" is in relation to some apps on my bold 9900? thanks.

    Push means that the application gets sent data automatically. Info is pushed to your device. For example you might have a sports app that gets updates pushed when games end and scores get reported to the app.

    Automatic updates are sent from the servers instead of the device sending out a query and getting an update response.
