If they do this, I feel that it would look very ugly with a ton of different sized, shaped icons. Atleast what this is doing now is creating a consistency between all apps, their icons, and everything. I (and many others) feel that the PlayBook's icons don't feel all that great because they are so inconsistent and it makes the OS feel a little bit incomplete as a whole. I think they know what they are doing, it does need some work, but I don't think entirely in the direction that you mentioned.

Wish they just improved the first version. I really hope the home screen and icons looking amazing come launch. It truly is very important to be visually stunning for the consumer. I'll keep my hopes up that they will impress us.

I like them. The old ones were too boxy and uniform. However, going to no box would make the icons look scattered and disorganized. I think this is a good medium between uniformity and identity.

The speed of the OS in action looked incredible.

The os looks a lot more refined and I like the blue in the blackberry hub since it adds some colour to the UI. Although I hope they change the action bar still.
