Default New Cloud storage option Mega - now we just need some clients for Playbook/BB10

Kim Dotcom is back (I thought the US were trying to send him to prison) with a new file storage service 50GB in the free option, Monthly fee of $9.99 for 500GB, $19.99 for 2TB, $29.99 for 4TB, or 17% discount if you sign up for the annual option.

Gizmodo article here Kim Dotcom's Mega Is Now Open To the Public and sign up is available at https://mega.co.nz = lots of people on, took me a few attempts to get to the site and sign up.

Yup... First thing I tried. And if they are going to force me to use Chrome, they can stuff it.
    First a Storm 2, then a Torch 9800, now a Z10 and Playbook 16g
    Nicely nice!

Due to what happened with the last storage site from Kim Dotcom, anyone would be nuts to use this as a primary cloud storage solution.

As a backup would be a smart move. Kim Dotcom's service is the equivalent of The Pirate Bay.... and by that I mean the governments are always trying to shut them down.

They haven't got anything to actually pursue him. He, and his lawyers, aren't dumb. This new site should be used with caution but I don't see it being a real problem.

I signed up on my pc with chrome but now I'm on my PlayBook with standard browser and it popped up with a warning that i'm using an outdated browser, I checked the box to tell it not to warn me again, currently uploading a small file as a test but it's slow.

Someone said it's slow because a huge number of people are signing up, I think they said 250,000 accounts per minute being created.

My 218kb file upload has taken 9 minutes so far and is doing 0 bytes per second expected to finish Infinity

It was 250,000 accounts created in first two hours, not 250,000 a minute

Ya, exactly that. The only difference is the mega encryption on all the data. (pun intended)

I'll use it as sort of a "secondary" backup. For access anywhere.

I still use good old Western Digital external hard drives for my true backups. I'm not trusting NO ONES cloud for true backup, not even RIM (if they have it).
