I currently have a regular flip phone. I have att, but I am not happy with the service. I was looking to switch to verizon once my contract was up. In the meantime I was going to buy a blackberry on ebay for att, just to get the hang of it so I know what I want when I go to verizon.

I found the 7290 is a popular iteam, and also the 8700c. Figured I'd ask you fellow blackberry-ers what you think of both of them. Or is there something else you guys reccomend. Im not lookin to spend 200-300 on one...just something that's got a good name out there.

Dude, a 7290 was popular, a few years ago. Spend $100-150 on a Curve and you'll be lovin life. Don't bother with the Storm.

Both the 7290 and the 8700c can be had VERY cheaply, and both are great phones and great data BBs, but they both lack good multimedia features. My recommendation is to spend about 40 bucks on a good used 8700 it's a GREAT introduction to BBs. Then when you switch the VZW you can get either a Storm, Niagara, or Curve.

EDIT: I'm forgetting the Pearl Flip with is supposed to be coming to VZW also another GREAT phone choice if you want to stick with a flip, and it DOES have multimedia.

I started on the Pearl (also eBay purchase, haha). I think it was a good training phone, for my upgrade to Curve. Love the Curve!

If you're only going to use the phone for a short time before you leave AT&T then the 8700 isn't bad at all. Depends how much you're going to get it for though.

I've got an unlocked 8700 for sale, if you're interested. It's the phone I started with, and it did me great until I got a new phone through my company. I'm playing around with the Pearl now, which is also a great phone if you like to use it one-handed.

I've had the Flip since day one (T-Mobile) and I wish I would have waited for the latest Curve. I thought I would get use to the SureType but.... I plan on getting the 8900 once I have sold my yongest child.
