You all seem to be sure, despite industrial design and costs that one day Obama or Merkel will rock an Android device.
I don't want to use one of those ultra secure phones with everything locked down super tight. Neither do most people want that because it makes the device very limited in what it can do (for security sake).

If that's all BlackBerry serves then BB10 might as well be dead to the average person.

No I don't think the president would be using an Android phone. I am sure for the price of those devices with the customization required, other companies would fill the void somehow if BB10 died. Heck BlackBerry could sell BlackBerry 10 off to Boeing or someone that wants to make that stuff.

Even if, by some miracle, BlackBerry does make one last BB10 device, it would certainly not be an all-touch. I think you can take that one to the bank.

You all seem to be sure that sooner or later Android will completely secured. Maybe also John Chen is.

    But it will never be.

You all seem to be sure, despite industrial design and costs that one day Obama or Merkel will rock an Android device. It's a long time that everyone and his mother tries to secure the Android gruyere and even if you believe that BlackBerry has the magical recipe believe me that other big brains tried before them...

So in this path BlackBerry 10 has a long life...

    Only my opinion, of course...

    ___BlackBerry 10 makes me stay___
Dude Samsung has already replicated what BlackBerry does to secure an OS at the hardware level starting with the chip set components in KNOX 2.1 they only licensed KNOX 1.x to Google which is in Both Lollipop and Marshmallow. Now with Permissions fine control just like BB10 combine the two and all root kits will have nothing to access. Apps can be verified internally via full code Analytics by BlackBerry.

No if we KNOW code and software and truly believe no software is secure including UNIX BSD then you must also equate even BlackBerry OS/10 can never be fully secure. So please don't make a stance without fully understanding the position you take.

Ye all be negative Nellies! One Android phone and the sky be falling.

I would like to know how Chen could continue his security sales pitch with android only. From that perspective, bb10 is here to stay. Maybe not enhanced from what it is now, and a reduced consumer experience, but here to stay.

I hear you. We have an Android tablet with Lollipop and using OS10 side by side to the Android tablet helps highlight pros and cons of both platforms.

What I find interesting are the insights from both my teens. My daughter had a Z10 and finally moved to the LG G3 for customization and Google Services apps. The Android apps that she needed for school were not working smoothly on her Z10. When showed the Priv she said maybe BlackBerry can make Androids safer to use with stricter security of the 3rd party apps and less tracking.

My son wants the Priv because his Z10 is dying but wants it to be more BB10 than Android. He doesn't want to lose the gestures, active frames, VKB etc.

I just find their insights interesting since this is the next generation of smartphone users.

I'm sure all those guys tapping away on their Palm Pre's share that "here to stay" sentiment. Who knows, maybe Chen will open-source BB10 and the WebOS story would repeat.

Did I say that I am still hopeful for a new BB10 device? 'Cause I personally don't have a clue if there will be one. I am just saying that BB has NOT officially said there will be no more, other than for this year (2015). Try not to put words into my mouth please.

No, you didn't say you were hopeful, just as Chen didn't say BB was done with BB10.

Often it's possible to come to a conclusion without an explicit statement. It's called reading between the lines.

But, no matter, I'll leave you to await that official BB statement before you're sure.

Yes, that is true but sometimes you can come to a conclusion a bit prematurely, and look foolish in the process. It's called jumping to conclusions. . Just for the record, I hold NO illusions of a new BB10 device coming anytime in the future, but I certainly will never go out on a limb stating categorically that it will NEVER happen.

The best thing in my opinion, that BlackBerry can do is to release at least another bb10 device to show their commitment to bb10. It would be good for the few app developers they have left. That is of course, assuming they are really committed.

They're not. Committed to BB10 that is.

BB10 is a commercial failure that has cost BB *billions*!

I'm actually surprised that they've stayed with it as long as they have.

Honestly, i don't think I've seen one single post from anyone making that claim. What everyone is sure of is that BB10 has failed commercially and Android has all the most popular apps.

Before getting rid of old 10, BlackBerry has to demonstrate that Priv Isn't rootable and fully secure at least...

Why? They can't sell enough BB10 devices to keep the device unit alive. Unless these specialised customers are willing to pay $3000 per device, they will have to make due with Apple or Android devices anyway.

And BTW, Obama's BlackBerry is as close to stock as a toaster.
