Need a new blackberry, should I wait for a new one or just get 9900?
I currently have a 9800 (torch), I absolutely love it but the screen is cracked and I feel like it's time for a new blackberry. I don't want any other brand, I'm just in love with blackberry and this is going to be my 7th, but I just can't decide if I should get 9900 today, or should I wait for a new model to come out?
There have been talks about QNX and bb10, but I definitely want a blackberry with a keyboard. Is there anything worth the wait, or should I just get it? I'm gonna buy one from Best Buy since they are selling BBs for $99 until May 12, so I need to decide soon. Also, are there any complaints with 9900? I'm really happy with my torch, so if 9900 has thousands of problems, I might just get another torch. - 05-08-2012, 01:32 PM #3
If you need a keyboard then go 9900 unless you want to wait till next year for the bb10 keyboard device.
Personally I would wait for the full touchscreen bb10 w/out a keyboard. - 05-08-2012, 01:40 PM #4
I'd say similar to maple leaf.
If you prefer keyboards like me go get a 9900. I don't think there is a release date for the bb10 yet let alone the Bold type bb10.
I've 2 9900's with the only problem months ago - needing to reload the OS.
You won't be disapointed.........the 9900 is the best phone I've seen owned. - 05-08-2012, 01:41 PM #5
go with the 9900, upgrade to the latest OS 7.1 and you wont have any problems. I've had mine since October and have had no problems whatsoever with bricking.
I wouldn't wait around for BB10 because its no telling when they will actually come out. Especially one with a keyboard. Blackberry isnt known to release things promptly you know. - 05-08-2012, 02:10 PM #7
I have a 9900 running 7.1 (personal) and a 9930 running 7.1 (work) and LOVE them both. I am of the mindset that technology constantly changes so if you always "wait for the newest device" you'll constantly be waiting empty handed. Go buy a 9900, enjoy it.. and wait patiently to be WOWED when the new Bold BB10s drop next year.

It depends on what you want really. If you are in love with your 9800, I can't help but think that you'll be obsessed with the 9810, as it improves upon the 9810 in every way possible. I've used my friend's 9800, and when comparing it to my 9810, they're almost like 2 different devices. Everything is SO much faster on the 9810, with the screen being A LOT better. The keyboard is slightly wider, and I can type on it just as well as I can on my 9900.
I've read a lot of 9800 users complain that the 9900's screen is "too small," and it is a lot smaller than what they're used to. I also use the 9900 and I really love it, but then again, I got it before I got the 9810, so I wasn't used to the larger screen.
Whatever you decide, I recommend loading OS 7.1.0.402 onto the device. OS 7.0 had TERRIBLE battery life for my 9900, but each leaked OS has only made things better. For me, the 9810 also gets better battery life than the 9900.
Good luck!Sean

I've heard many great things about the 9900; so I would recommend trying it out at your carrier's store. But, since you love the Torch series, you could always get a 9860/50. They're gorgeous devices and you're already used to the Torch series as it is!
Good luck, and let us know what you've decided!

*9810* ?
Instead of the 9850 / 60 if the OP is use to their 9800 already

I am really pleased with my Bold 9930. You can get them pretty inexpensive right now. RIM has said that they will continue to support Blackberry 7 devices for a long time to come. When BB10 devices do come out they will probably be on the expensive side. I am still discovering things with my smart device. I guess what I am saying is a Bold in hand is worth two Bold 10s in the future.

I would buy a cheap 9780 or maybe even a 9810 off Craigslist & save the upgrade for when a BB10 device comes out. (that's assuming you're up for an upgrade, of course.)

I just went to Best Buy and bought 9900 today. It's really fast and I just love the 7 OS. The only downside is that the screen seemed kinda small after my torch, but I don't think it will be hard getting used to. I should have bought this phone a long time ago, I really like it. And let's be honest, who doesn't like getting a new blackberry
Thank you all for the replies, you guys really helped!
