My Poor Wife!

So the kids got their hands on the wife's BB over the weekend and gave it a bath. So off to the local Telus store this morning and by some strange twist of events I walked out with an iPhone 4S. Now here is where the story takes a twist I'm still not impressed with. I live in a small town and the local Telus dealer doesn't stock like a big Telus dealer would.

Being as the phone was bricked I had no choice but to buy an upgrade and when I requested a new Bold or Curve he responded with "I don't stock any Blackberry phones as they are soon to go under. Talk about miss informed! Long story short it was either an Android or iPhone. Knowing most of our family and inlaws are all sipping the Apple koolaid I went with iPhone. I then spent the afternoon upgrading the OS, importing goodies, getting apps and going over the phone with a fine tooth comb. I totally don't see what all the fuss is about. I guess I'm a hardcore BB man as it will be a cold Friday in h3ll before I switch over to iPhone.

I know the huge draw to Apple is the amazing amount of apps. If you like advertisements that is! I was shocked at how many apps all have an ad banner embedded in them. What a total distraction, and to find a worthwhile app is like finding a needle in a haystack. Maybe I should spend more time with it and it will grow on me but I've never been so disappointed in a device EVER.

you use to be able to order phones from Telus if telus carried them but your local store did not. Did you ask about ordering a new one?

Here we go again - this is a disturbing trend.

We have a sales person that decides to talk a customer out of the phone he wants. OP - just order a BlackBerry and return the iPhone or keep the iPhone and sell it when BB 10 comes out in 2-4 months. I will admit that if I worked for a carrier I would definitely recommend BlackBerry customers to wait for BB10 unless they really wanted a BB OS 7 device.

However, if you to want to give the iPhone a shot - you can go over to the iPhone sub forum here or to iMore and explain what frustrates you the most about the iPhone. Maybe people there can help you get it working the way your BlackBerry worked for you. Good luck.

Ahahah Telus at least trouble you. VZW doesn't keep it sometimes and then tell you to get off bb and steer you android and iphone. Omfg, we're humans not toys with settings and I had a clear mindset.

Carriers are getting bigger commissions if they sell Android or Apple. BB10 has to have some amazing features to pull people away from the other platforms to be successful !

With blackberry having a large fan base and others sick and tired of android I firmly believe that Rim will pull this one off!
Apple on the other hand will self destruct with the same old device at every launch.

I maintain the hype is more of a placebo effect, the bmass majority don't think BBs are cool anymore so they throw harsh words like BB sucks or they are garbage. Looking for any excuse to do what they friends/family says and get an iphone or android, that's what my sister did with her 4s and my cousin. Now they are sucked in
