Default Multiple BB10 Devices at Launch!?

According to Thor, in a recent interview, he stated that BB10 will launch with 3 full screen devices and 3 QWERTY devices...what does this mean? are we getting all the devices at launch? or is he referring to an extended launch saying overtime we will have these devices?

    Thorsten Heins:

BlackBerry is a multitasking device – now we are making that the forefront of the device. We are building true multitasking into the forefront.

The new operating system is truly multi-threaded. It allows several applications to run at the same time, in real time, and not on an in-out-in-out basis. We have all the apps not just on a grid, but up and running on a grid, so the moment you hit them, they are running on the grid.

At launch, there will be three full-screen devices with a virtual keyboard, and three devices with a physical QWERTY keyboard, but you will have the same BlackBerry 10 experience on all of these.

nope, we won't be getting them all at launch
i assume - and believe he also said it - that we'll be getting them all in 2013 (but i'm really not sure)

    3 full screen + 3 qwerty, eh?

    fullscreen
    1) London
    2) Aristo
    3) a low-end smartphone (curve)

    qwerty:
    1) N-Series
    2) slider (torch-style)
    3) curve

I dont think they will all be at launch...but it was interesting the way Thor himself worded that...thought it would be good discussion. I think that they will release them all over the year 2013.

Just two things I need to know: 1) Is there going to be a BB10 slider? 2) If "Yes" to #1, will Verizon have it?

I would have purchased a 9810 in a heartbeat if it were available through Verizon. I want a bigger screen AND a keyboard, you hear me VZW????

With 3 devices he is talking about 3 variants of L series that are made for different networks, 2 for North American LTE networks and 1 for the rest of the world (Lisbon, Liverpool and London). Next 3 will be qwerty versions (N-series (Bold)), 2 for Northa American LTE networks and 1 for the rest of the world (Nevada, Napoli and Nile). So technically there is 3 variants of 1 device availabe at the lounch.

Default Multiple BB10 Devices at Launch!?

Maybe an entry level device may be present on launch? Its a bad guess but could be possible. Anyone remembers the Milan rumors? That phone got scrapped so I'm basing my guess off that.

In the same interview the OP is citing he mentions about apps freezing and the fact you don't need to reboot. He says he's been 8wks so far, and if an app craps out it goes grey, and you continue doing anything else you want in the OS.

That's fine and dandy but how do I get that app working again? Does it just fix itself (un grey??) Or do I need to restart?

I'm clicking the app because I want something. Be it a game, browser or information. The fact the phone continues to work is swell but I want what was in the app!

    Any ideas?

On the PlayBook, the icon goes grey, then goes back to normal, and you can open the app again. No biggie. Only a handful of times, you have an error serious enough for the app to require a reboot.

    Nope it's the 3 L-series and the 3 N-series.

The London, Lisbon, Laguna. Lisbon and Laguna are the GSM/CDMA variants. The London is the world phone.

Same thing with the N series.

RIM has always considered them as separate phones. ie 9930/9900, 9350/9360/9370, etc.

Agree with you. And as far as I know, L series will be the only BB10 at launch, and N series will available couple weeks later after the first BB10 launching.

I have a pb too and while you don't need to reboot often, I still get memory leaks, and too many browser crashes.

This would be amazing. . .what seems to be a better and more realistic launch would be at the very least the high and mid end touch and QWERTY devices available before the end of the first quarter 2013. . . This would be good enough. . .
