I don't know if anyone watches Modern Family but in Season 6 Episode 6 (Connection Lost) was shot in an iPad entirely.

How Modern Family shot all of tonight?s episode using iPhones and iPads | BGR

If you get a chance to watch it, do it. Real funny!

Watch Modern Family Online - Connection Lost | Hulu

Anywhom the entire show is all about Apple products (gag) but I thought it was cool that the ecosystem allowed them to interact from a tablet to a cellphone and even to a laptop.
For example one could FaceTime from the MacBook and the receiving user could answer from the iPad or iPhone.
Everything is intertwined and works seamless between products.

Two part question: do you BlackBerry users miss those abilities or wish we had them?
Second, do you think BlackBerry will ever get to that point?

I hadn't heard of this. Some of the connections you mention are possible on BB10, but not all yet. There is certainly much room for refinement.

I expanded the thread title to make it a bit more descriptive.

My family members use BlackBerry, Samsung and a few iPhones. The majority are Samsungs. I doubt that real life families all would want to use the same platform.

Oh on the contrary! Many families all use Apple.
    For these very reasons.

Nope. If you read the article quoted in the OP, you'll see that it was the creator of the show's idea, based on his own real-life experience.

(Also, Apple made $7 billion last quarter. They hardly need to "plug" anything.)

Must be small families with all iphones. In large families like mine, we have lots of variety, including several ex-iphone users on Samsungs. But whatever...

Despite the platform, the episode was great. The use of Facetime to move the episode along was cool. The ease with which they hacked the daughter's iClouid account to locate her iPhone was disturbing.

Quite the engaging concept. I found it interesting from a creative standpoint. And yes, I think every platform would benefit from the possibility of such interconnectivity.

Even if it isn't hardware, the ability to use cross-platform tools is invaluable IMHO.

Oh, the histrionics! The mother guessed the simple-minded daughter's iCloud password in 3 or 4 attempts because of the obvious password her daughter chose. Not disturbing at all if you know the characters. Let it go folks.

My friend uses FaceTime with her daughter a lot and BBM WiFi calling to chat with her when not on FaceTime. Why not use the best of any technology that is offered :-). But like one poster said, most families have a mix of platforms. We have BlackBerry and Android mostly. Very few iPhone users in my circle of friends and family.

I've read this via a Bloomberg article and their video interview of the producer. Unfortunately never heard of this show no cable.

It would be interesting to have a follow-up show with various platforms and users using WhatsApp considering it's on the Web with Chrome plug-in now.

The show is on ABC, which is a broadcast network. No cable needed, just a digital antenna.
