    The argument is not that Nokia phones are unsuccessful because they RUN Skype.
    The argument is that Nokia phones are disliked by carriers, because they run WP7 which is owned by MS, which also happened to just buy Skype for 8.5Bn.

    Microsoft's purchase of Skype occurred much earlier than Nokia's decision to run Windows Phone 7.5.

    Skype is even available for Linux. The availability of Skype is not something restricted by Microsoft.
