    Default lost bb

    i lost my blackberry, what if the thief disables the gps option in it and wipes the phone,(and deletes blackberry map and any tracing software i installed) can i still trace it?

    If it remains active on the same network, the carrier should be able to track it. If you installed BB Protect, and they leave it on, you can use the website to track it. Without either of those scenarios, I don't think tracking is likely. Report it stolen to your provider and the police, then pray.

    If your BlackBerry has been security wiped, then your BBID is no longer associated on-device, but I don't actually know what would happen to the Protect functions. When you do a security wipe (even if you select to delete third party apps) it doesn't remove Research in Motion branded applications. Without testing though, I'm unable to say if security wipe also severs the connection between BB Protect servers and your device. I'd hazard a guess that it probably does.
