Kik Messenger for BlackBerry 10 confirmed or a confusion?
I contacted Kik Support to ask them about their app to be available on BB10 but their answer left me thinking if they actually know about BB10 or if Ben did read the email correctly...

Greetings,
I'm contacting you because I wanted to know if can count on Kik
Messenger to be available on the new BlackBerry 10 platform, as it is my
cross platform messaging app of preference. I'm currently a Kik user
through my BB smartphone.
Please make it happen.

Hi there!
You can certainly download Kik Messenger onto your BlackBerry 10. However, Kik is not an official app of BlackBerry so there may be some functionality issues because of this.
Thanks!

Seems like they're content with users sideloading their Android app...

The Android verison has always worked. This is not new. I had KIK converted and running on the PlayBook 30 minutes after RIM handed me a developer's beta PlayBook during the San Fran devcon back in 2011.
I'm sure that's what he is talking about and they have no intentions of making a native BB10 version. - 01-08-2013, 08:48 AM

I'm sure he cannot use or rely on an unofficial method to get the app (sideload the Android version) to say that the app is available on BlackBerry PlayBook/ BlackBerry 10. He is either confusing BlackBerry 10 with current BB smartphones or implying that BB10 phones will support OTA downloads and/or sideloading. I anyway replied him back asking for further explanation but I won't get my hopes up because he took a lot of time to reply the first time.

Remember the history involved though. Like the post above said. I doubt RIM would let them make an official app that's available from BlackBerry World any way.
Alec himself told me that BB10 will have development mode. Developers need a easy way to test their apps. So side loading will continue to be an option. - 01-08-2013, 09:12 AM #7
He's confused. Kik adopted a run anywhere solution for BlackBerry devices in the fact that it uses Java. He just spit out a generic answer as soon as he read "BlackBerry"
Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

I think the Kik office is in waterloo. I was driving down weber towards king and just before king and weber near the shell gas station I saw the sign. I can go in and ask next time I'm in that end of town

Kick was kicked out of Appworld weren't they? It was started by a guy who worked on BBM and stole some secrets or something, RIM sued them at some point.
