Welcome back!
I'd recommend loading the new 10.2.1 leak and install the Snap or Droid Store for your Androids apps that you need or want. Both are native apps that can access Google Play apps and let you download the apk's from them
10.2.1 also makes the installation of Android apps way easier, cause you can now install the apk's on the device itself

As for good appsin BlackBerry World, there are tons. I recommend:
-CB10 (Native CrackBerry app)
-FastTube or SuperTube (Both native 3rd party Youtube apps)
-Flipboard (The great running Android port)
-Soundhound (Native to recognize music)
-BlackBerry Express (Native beta app from BlackBerry to make powerpoint presentations
-Make (3rd party Starbucks app)
-Blaq (Best 3rd party twitter app ever)

There are tons more, just say what you are most interested in or browse BlackBerry World

...when I switch devices and OS', I simply install the same apps I have on the current device. Typically one uses the same apps, irrespective of device being used

If you don't have a problem with unofficial built by BlackBerry OS's, you can install 10.2.1.1055 and install Android apps just by tapping the apk if it resides on your phone. At this point that's as easy as it gets.

Although there is something to be said for drag-and-drop a group of Android apps in bar format into the PlayBook app manager in Google Chrome. That's actually "easier" imo just because it's not necessary to do it app by app.
